What decides whether it ships
Cat safety first
The box must be unable to close on a cat. Sensing, torque limits and mechanical design all point at that one requirement.
Litter varies
Clumping, tofu, crystal and mixed litters behave differently. The motion profile is tuned litter by litter.

A sealed waste path and a deodoriser decide whether owners keep the box in the living space.
Reliability over years
Motors, gears and seals are tested for long cycle counts, because the box runs several times a day for years.
